Re: The THPS Beta/Demo hunt thread! THPS2 PC Beta Released!
This is a bit off topic, but I just noticed that sairuk's footage of the THPS2 E3 Demo park editor was used for Rev 3 Games review of THPSHD.

...WTH?
Q: Why can't I access the options menu?
A: You can't access the options menu because you have one of the final beta
versions that slipped in with the final versions. I suggest you take it back
to the store where you purchased it and get a new copy.
Q: Horse is not available in the 2 player mode.
A: See above.
Q: What is the object goal in San Fransisco
A: I honestly have no idea what the object goal in SF is. It seems that the
beta copies have something called the object goal instead of "getting
S-K-A-T-E". Return your copy and get a new one if this happend to you.

Yeh, There is a 1.0 and 1.1 cart release of the N64 THPS NTSC version although I've not bothered to look at the differences. It is not particularly known as a beta these days.

Some(and by "Some" I mean a lot) of NTSC Carts of THPS1 N64 for some reason are called in game: "Tony Hawk's Skateboarding". (the name of the PAL version of the PS1 game).
I think that might be the only difference though.

there is goalob node in TRG file, which probably is goal object and it is not used in final th1 and th2 files. wonder what was it though.

Re: The THPS Beta/Demo hunt thread! THPS2 PC Beta Released!
i found some beta stuff about THUG2 and THAW, i forgot most of it since it's been like 4 years since i saw the beta trailer for THUG2
THUG2
The CAS would contain all of the THUG1 objects
It contains most of unused specials
I think Bucky Lasek was supposed to be in this game
Most of the pros had some THUG1 Clothes (example, Chad Muska was wearing the circa logo trucker hat)
THAW
Tony hawk model was the same as THUG2, but was recolored
The pros were the same appearance as in THUG2 (i think)
Originally THAW would have THUG2 ammo (Beads, apples, tomatos)
The HUD colors were different from the final build (it was pink in the beta)
Edit:i found some demos from PS2 version of THPS4/THUG1, Shawn Murray's Pro Wakeboarder in THPS4, and MTX Mototrax in THUG1, never really played them

If so, that confirms that the beta disc it is taken from is a just before the public demo release. Which in turn dates it later than the other known betas, that's a good bit of info thanks; I'll have to finaly boot the disc.
UPDATE: I just booted the Jampack Disc '99 (for the first time ever!) and noticed hawks stats have been refined (less speed, more toughness) from the screenshot on the site. I've asked the guy who sent it if he had bumped it up that stats through gameplay or not.
UPDATE2: The screenshot was from a fresh boot of the game, no stat modifications were in effect

Re: The THPS Beta/Demo hunt thread! THPS2 PC Beta Released!
I just found out that the Cheat Codes for Apocalypse sorta work for the THPS1 Demo and the Beta.
Here is skip to restart (Area Select, Stage Select, and Skip Check Points code) and Debug Mode enabled in the demo.
Edit1: Check this out: http://www.i-o-studio.com/-2.html
Edit2: I noticed the stats are the same as Tony's stats in the known Beta.
For comparison:
Your Screen:
Beta Demo:
Known Beta:
I checked most of the versions of that Demo, the stats are all the same.
Ones that I checked:
NTSC:
Jampack Summer '99
Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine Demo Disc 22
PlayStation Underground 3-2 Disc 2
Kiosk Demo Disc Version 1.21
(The Pizza Hut one Is a demo of the final game, so it does not count)
PAL:
Euro Demo 49
Euro Demo 92
Euro Demo 10-99 (G)
Playstation Zone CD Vol. 8 (G)
Edit3: What is the "Flippable Spins" THPS1 Beta?

Know that you mention it we did do some stuff with apocolypse at the time, can't remember what it was but there was some discussions around Apocolypse

I'm still trying to track down exactly what that was, I don't recall having 3 betas in my possession during the thps1 days buts it is more than possible.

Check out what I found when i was browsing that THPS2PC Beta:
It looks like the loading screen on one of those prototype screenshots that where shown on PTH:
Edit: I just realized that; that even though that FAQ on gamefaqs was in the N64 section it was meant for the PS1 version.

Re: The THPS Beta/Demo hunt thread! THPS2 PC Beta Released!
-Was there anything that was cut out or never made it to the final version?
Yea there were a few things. A couple of levels that didn't make it or were
substituted with other levels, a few tricks that didn't make it as well as a
few 2 Player modes and some special effects that didn't make the time line.
The levels themselves changed quite a bit as did the characters. In the School
at one time there was a secret area behind the start point that would allow
you to jump onto some clouds, then you would ride on the cluds all the way
down to the pool area where they would drop you off, after that the sky would
get dark and it would start raining, way too "Marioesque" for a skateboarding
game. The fire exits in the Mall would blaze into a major fire if you bumped
them and there used to be a dinosaur skeleton that was replaced by the
florescent lights you grind to get the secret tape. San Francisco originally
was 4 times the size. In Roswell we had planned for a UFO to fly in and crash
into the side of a mountain. As with any game project some things stick, some
are discarded.
.......wow.
Edit: I'm guessing SF happened to look like what they look like in these screens?

Did the loadscreen the that 2nd THPS1 Beta look like this:
I made the loadscreen mockup using some of the leftover images from that THPS2PC Beta.
