THPS Dreamcast 12/10/99 beta, mostly UI differences, FPS display in game, and a locked cheat menu on the main menu.

I used NullDC and the game is kinda slow due to the emulator. The mainmenu song was also like a 10 second clip from the real one, and it was scratchy, but I think the emulator speed and the song issue was because of NullDC and not reflective of the build.

I also inspected the files on the disc and there's no extra bonus stuff really. Just the different UI image bmps, and all of the beta-ish stuff that remained on the final build disc is here such as freeway and rasta skater as leftovers. There's also three sample Wavs that sound like they are music from Sonic Adventure, but it's really nothing.

There could be some other stuff that's different cause it was probably around this time that they were working on the movie screen video stuff. There's an article on this particular DC THPS port floating around which I'm sure most of you read.

I'll try to burn and play this on my DC when I get the chance. Cheers Enunn or someone else if they check it out more indepth first.

Very Cool.
Even though it's a later build then the supposed builds that are have somewhat working 4-player splitscreen (at least so IIRC), it still shows the DC port in transition with lots of leftover assets from the original PS1 version of the game such as levels still having their PS1 textures, lots of skaters still having their PS1 player models with a few somewhat incomplete DC player models. It even still has that somewhat buggy fake player shadowing method that the PS1 version uses before it was completely redone to a much better one, other then that and a few buggy stuff there is nothing really new/interesting though aside from some mostly minor graphical stuff.

Not quite as interesting as early 1st platform builds as with the case with most ports that are based off of complete builds of the game in general, but still kinda interesting.

But still pretty cool indeed and big props to bananabreak for releasing it.

btw there are significant problems with alpha and draworder as well as non-working UV animations.
might be emu issues, but the only render issue nulldc stumbles on in the release versions i the shadow.

Just tried it with a VMU with a retail save. It works and loads the save. However, don't you dare go back to the last screen. I would recommend load it from the options menu, it'll work fine.

And Elissa Steamer's bail sounds are funny.

God, the mall background noise sounds rather ominous...

Damn I forgot about this. The Dreamcast Generator Volume 2 demo disc has a THPS1 demo.

Here's some differences I found from the retail version.

-Logos are stills but some look different than in the retail version.

Demo (in order of appearance):

Retail (in order of appearance):

-Press Start screen changed

Retail:

-No menu, cuts straight to Career Mode with only being able to play as Tony Hawk in the Warehouse.

-Controller buttons on the in-game menus are different.

Demo:

(and yes the demo is pretty dark as hell for me)

Retail:

-Here's something weird. The special trick text is red instead of orange-ish.

Demo:

Retail:

-Only one song, New Girl by The Suicide Machines.

Other than that, I don't see anything else different. The level looks exactly the same as retail's. I don't know what else is different, I can't tell.

Can somebody help me? I download THPS3 Beta part 1 and 2. Both files are in .001 and .002 files. I download Splitter & Joiner program and merge those 2 files together. I open THPS3 Beta iso file in ePSXe and It won't boot up. I tried without merging those 2 files and it still won't boot up. I'm I doing something wrong?

install 7-zip, right click the 001 file, pick 7-zip -> unpack here. it will do the rest.

Seems there might be a new thug pc beta knocking about

http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/pot ... 00s.63571/

Update: Having looked at it quickly, i'd be more so inclined to call it a Demo than a Proto, i've currently named it

Tony Hawk's Underground (Pinecone Research Study #31312) Demo.iso
